Message Hi:

Well, I ordered the Z1 1-piece driveshaft. My mechanic put it in and it shook the whole car above 40 mph +. I took it in to get it balanced, and sure enough it needed 4 washers to get balanced. Now I am getting heavy sound / vibration at 70 to 80 mph. Not as bad as before, but definitely noticeable. Transmission mount is fine.

Car Specs:
1993 NA 2+2 Manual, 172,000
KYB Adjustables / Eibachs
Sub-frame spacers
We removed the sub-frame spacers after the install just to see, and still issues.

Any ideas on next steps.

1. The shop said they ran the driveshaft at 3,000 rpm, shall I remove it and get them to balance it again above 3,000+ rpm like to 6,000+
2. Send the Z1 driveshaft back and get another one
3. Send the Z1 driveshaft back and go to the OEM 2 piece
4. Is something else the cause we need to check (differential, etc). My mechanic says he has a used backend that maybe we could swap out to see if that might work

I already paid my mechanic for the install Z1, uninstall Z1, install Z1, so this is starting to get frustrating and I want to use his time and my time wisely while keeping an eye on the costs. He is a Z mechanic and is excellent.

Note: Also, I have been in contact with Z1, and they seem willing to work with me on this for reimbursement, etc. I have not contacted them on the finding post balance as we just got the driveshaft back in the car today.

Any help and advice is very appreciated.

Thanks,

Dwayne
